Here's another one where he's using the SL68 and the ClinchFX EP-3 ....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LderEFqb ... er&list=UL

@ about 4:13 he switches to a Les Paul and @ about 5:24 he dimes the amp and plays the opening sequence on Eruption ....

John's not giving up the "secrets", but he's got a half power switch that emulates the Variac effect .... And I'd love to know how close the spec is to Eddie's early V.H. spec ?

Great note separation, but I would tighten up the bottom end a hair on the first clip. Other than than very nice.

The half powewr switch just takes out 2 of the power tubes. Pretty old mod actually. I believe may have started on Fenders. A variac lowers everything within the amp. Totally different sound qualities.
Pete has a good range of chops.

Mike said it,, and I agree, the bottom end needs to be tightened up a bit. In general , it was a tad TOO warm and furry for old Eddie.
Still, frickin' AWESOME though. I like how he (Peter) has taken the time to be accurate in his use of the effects, as well as the 'core' old EVH tone. I think strat78 is THE MAN when it comes to this though.

Probably close, but no cigar .... John's gone into very little depth on just what he did, but it was defnintely much more than just that ....
