Marshall 4140 100w Original

My friend had this amp stored away in his closet. He's never liked it and was going to pitch it in the trash until I convinced him otherwise. I played this thing and it sounds killer, looks like the long term storage did it well. Still has the original Daly cans and the power shows Drake and FRAKO for caps on the PCB. Still has the G12m-70 speakers from England and they sound awsome. The power tubes (6550) are mismatched atleast as manufactures go, two are Ruby's and the others appear to be Amperex made in England. Reverb doesn't work and shows alot of drink stains on the grill. The amp was built in 1978 and that makes it one of the first since Marshall only made these from 78-82. The PCB is Greek to me, controls wired directly to the board. But all in all it's a Marshall and sounds every bit like one. Sound is very mellow at all sweeps of the volume. Cleans up really well and can get really saturated almost like a good FUZzzz. I don't know alot of history on these amps, has anyone any more input to share? Here are some pics.
May the good Lord take a liking to you! ... i%2012xxx/

I'll take a stab at this one. The 4140 was (from what I've read) the Club & Country model. Supposed to be Marshall's take on the Fender Twin. That's about all I know. The local Guitar Center has one for sale ... for about $1,300 clams.
